Highly recommend Shay Kelly’s book called ‘Canine Enrichment; the book your dog needs you to read (2nd edition)’! There are so many activities you can do with your dog to strengthen your bond. I thought it would be a great time to recommend with all the wet weather we have experienced lately ☔️

Why is it important we check our dogs want to be touched before patting them? 💭 If we interact with a dog that is telling us they are uncomfortable or worried, we are ignoring them and what they need to feel safe. This puts both human and dog at risk as the dog isn’t being given a choice and they may need to resort to more obvious communication such as growling, baring their teeth and even snapping. We always want our dogs to feel safe and have a choice of participating in interactions as not all dogs love pats and cuddles! All dogs were bred for a specific purpose many many years ago, and this still influences them today.
